In accordance to my work method the starting point for Ostersbaum is as usual a limited location: A small section of the former railway line Nordbahntrasse in Wuppertal. The railway line was opened in 1878, closed in 1998 and reopened in 2013 as a mixed-use path for pedestrians and bicycles. One can now walk through the city from a slightly elevated point of view. Sometimes the branches of the trees next to the railway line block the view, sometimes they reveal the view on the city. You look down on typical residential houses of the 1950s to 70s, on streets, industrial estates and petrol stations.
Intrigued by the gaze looking through the defoliated trees I record the topography of Wuppertal's periphery. As in my series still und leise I observe the human traces in the stage like landscape from slightly different standpoints creating a cinematic sequence with a series of images.
